I'd like to have selected users be able to upload into a single directory. Limiting the type of upload by extension, security issues (remove all escape chars, ;'s, etc... basically limit to A-Z0-9 etc,)

This would allow 'trusted' users to upload things like mp3s, avatars, etc...

Suggestions, comments, pointers?

A version of Buddy has been adapted and is working happily on the new site, but it's not up to release standard yet... if there's enough demand, however, I'll see if I can't make it into a proper Postnuke module.

On a separate note, why is the "official" phpBB 1.2 module such a mess? I've been working to get this up to spec. I've fixed the anonymous posting bug, and got the smilies system working properly (so the icons you specify in admin actually come out in people's posts). Plus the navigation is improved, with "next page" links, and the whole thing is tidier. Feel free to try it out (<a href=http://www.boinng.php4hosting.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Forum&file=index>boinng forums).

Would people be interested in an unofficial (but much improved) version of this forum, perhaps with multilingual support, and how should I make it official?

The first thing I need done is to modify the "user.php" form to include a total of 40 fields. This will probably also include adding 2 or 3 tables to the nuke mysql database to store this new information. This form needs to be validated with php, highlighting incorrect or incomplete fields.

I then need a keyword search for the information submitted in the "user.php" file as well as an advanced search feature with about ten different custom search parameters.

Now I am not sure if it is easier to do the above changes or add these above features as an 'addon'. If this was the case I would not need to use the user.php file. That's fine to.
